About:
I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Virginia. In 2001, I graduated with an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Marymount University and have been working in the mental health field since 1996. As a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor, I have extensive training in play therapy, art therapy and sandtray techniques and finds these alternative treatment methods to be invaluable during the therapeutic process. I provide services to children, adolescents, and their families and I believe that parent guidance is an important part of the therapeutic process. In addition, I am Level 1 certified in EMDR, with specific training in EMDR with children. I also provide supervision to clinicians wishing to become licensed professional counselors and/or registered play therapists.

My counseling experience began when I worked in residential treatment facilities for at risk teens as a recreation therapist. It was during this time I decided to get my counseling degree. I started my private practice in 2005, after gaining clinical experience in both inpatient and outpatient treatment settings. Having the opportunity to work in different settings has provided me with wonderful knowledge and hands on experiences that have allowed me to grow as a clinician.
